AROMA: sweet, sharp and refreshing.
FEATURES: Citrus paradisi is a glossy-leaved tree with white flowers and yellow fruits which hand from the tree like large bunches of grapes flattened at the ends. The oil glands are embedded deep within the peel and compared to Orange and Lemon, the yield of oil is small. Much of the essential oil is obtained from Israel, Brazil and the USA.
PROPERTIES: Antidepressant, Antiseptic, Aperitif, Diuretic, Disinfectant, Resolvent, Stimulant, Tonic.
MIND: Has an overall uplifting and reviving effect-making it valuable in states of stress. May well have a balancing action on the CNS since bears a reputation for stabilizing manic-depression. Said to be euphoric and slightly hypnotic.
BODY: A lymphatic stimulate, nourishes the tissue cells and controls liquid process. It may have an effect on obesitiy and water retention and its diuretic properties could help with cellulite. As an aid to weight reducing diets, it stimulates bile secretion helping with digestion of fats. However, it is an appetite stimulante too indicating its general balancing and tonic effect on digestion. Could be an aid in drug withdrawal since it is said to have a cleansing effect on the kidneys and vascular system. Appears to have a soothing effect on the body since it is said to relieve migraine, pre-mentral tension and uncomfortable feelings during pregnancy. It also seems to mitigate some of the effects of jet lag i.e. headaches and tiredness.
EFFECTS ON SKIN: Helpful for congested and oily skin. May be good for acne.
BLENDS: basil, bergamot, cedarwood, chamomile, citronella, frankincense, geranium, jasmine, lavendar, palmarosa, rose, rosewood, ylang ylang.
